Meet Your Chapter 1 Board of Directors

President:  Beth Hunt, RN, MSN    BHunt@iasishealthcare.com 

Beth is the Director of Pain Management for the Iasis St Luke's system. She has been a nurse for over 30 years with experience in various specialties, including orthopedics, oncology, and Maternal/ Child Health. She has recently completed her MSN with a focus on leadership and management. The knowledge and skills gained through her work and education will enable her to lead as Chapter President for 2009-2010.

First Vice President: Sue Rhoads, RN, MBA/HCM            surhoads@cox.net 

Sue is currently the Clinical Nursing Coordinator for Brown Mackie College. She has been the treasurer for Chapter 1 for several years. Her education and business knowledge have enabled her to serve in this position with financial savvy and responsibility in the best interest of the chapter. She now takes on her new Chapter leadership role as First Vice President with excitement and vision. She will transition into her role as Chapter President in 2011.

Second Vice President (Programs Director):  Karen Sutherland RN

Karen is the Clinical Coordinator for the new Pain Management program for the St. Luke’s Health System. She has previously served as Vice President of the Orthopedic Nurses Association and as Educational Chair of the Arizona Paralegal Nurses Association. She is a previous member of Arizona PeriAnesthesia Nurses Association. She welcomes the opportunity to become more involved and promote nursing as a profession through ongoing educational programs

Secretary: Catherine Mohammed MN RN  cnrmohammed@netscape.net

Catherine has 25 years of experience in nursing, mostly in management and administration. She has been involved in several other nursing organizations, including the Arizona Organization of Nurse Executives. Her special interests relate to healthcare policy, legislative processes, and mentoring and education for nurses.

Treasurer:  Sharon Rayman, MS, RN, CCTC, CPTC: sharon.rayman@chw.edu 

 Sharon is currently Adjunct Faculty & Student Services Center for Education and Development at St. Joseph's Hospital & Medical Center. She served as Chapter Membership Chair from 2007 to 2009 and was recently elected into her current role as Chapter Treasurer. Sharon has been active on the AzNA Appointments & Nominations Committee and represented AzNA in 2003 on the task force with Donor Networkof Arizona to develop a statewide organ donation registry, which was implemented in April of 2003.  

Communications Director: Victoria Voit, RN, MSN    vvoit@cox.net

Victoria is currently nursing faculty for the Paradise Community College Nursing Program at John C. Lincoln hospitals. Victoria currently serves as secretary for the Nu Upsilon Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International, as well as the Kenya Medical Mission. Through her experience on other boards, she has acquired excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills that will facilitate her effectively communicating updated information to the chapter members.

Matthew is a Clinical Education Specialist at Banner Boswell Medical Center and also facilitates New Employee Orientation. He understands and utilizes the essentials of adult education and the continuing education process, as well as a broad range of nursing education topics, including nursing theory, evidence-based practice, and patient safety.

Bylaws Director: Jo Podjaski DNP, APRN - BC

Jo’s professional experience spans 31 years and includes staff nursing in acute care, home health, and occupational health. She also served as a patient education coordinator for a health system. She is an Adult Health-certified Clinical Nurse Specialist with experience in medical-surgical-oncology and orthopedics. Jo is currently an assistant professor at Grand Canyon University and is a past AzNA Chapter 1 president
