About Us
History Chapter 1 of the Arizona Nurses Association provides education, news, and events for the Greater Phoenix Area nurses. The chapter was originally formed on December 17, 1917 as the "Maricopa County Graduate Nurses' Association" with 21 charter members. In 1933, the chapter was titled "District 1" and serviced Maricopa County, covering a 30-mile radius of the city of Phoenix. Chapter 1, often referred to as "GPAC" or "Greater Phoenix Area Chapter", is now the largest Arizona chapter by membership.
Philosophy:
The mission of the Greater Phoenix Area Chapter of the Arizona Nurses Association, a professional organization, is to promote the professional development of nurses, advance the practice of nursing, and provide opportunities for establishing collegial relationships.
Mission Statement: The membership is the driving force of the Greater Phoenix Area Chapter of AzNA. The organization's viability if preserved by the mutual exchange of ideas to support the mission statement, bylaws, goals, and objectives of the Chapter.
Strategic Initiatives for 2009-2010 1. Expand partnerships with other organizations for events and activities 2. Develop and implement strategies to engage new and existing members 3.
