Message from the President

Dear AzNA GPAC Chapter 1 Members,

We have just had our first Board meeting of the new fiscal year, and your Board members have some exciting news to share with you!

First of all, we had a very successful use of the SurveyMonkey format to elect our new board members. We hope that you found this to be a quick and easy way to vote. We would like to thank our outgoing Board members from 2009-2009, Shannon Perry (2^nd VP), Debby Skroch (Bylaws Chair), Cheryl Roat (Education Director), and Sandy Thompson (Secretary). We also welcome our new Board members for 2010-2012, Karen Sutherland (2^nd VP), Jo Podjaski (Bylaws Chair), Matt Clerc (Education Director), and Catherine Mohommed (Secretary). We look forward to serving you this year.

Secondly, we have now broken even with our Charity Charm sales, so that is going very well, and we would like to thank you for your participation in this fundraiser. The Charms are being sold to raise money for nursing scholarships, so if you do not have yours yet, please go to the web site under “Events/News” to purchase one. You may also want to recommend that out of state friends who are nurses get theirs as well, as they are not State or Organization-specific and can be proudly worn by any nurse.

Thirdly, we have met most of our objectives from last year. We have partnered with other chapters of AzNA to bring you some great educational offerings this past year and will continue to do so. We have also worked to increase community visibility by developing a Speaker’s Bureau and will be looking for some of you to step up and be on the Speaker’s list (look for more on the web site soon). We have developed a social networking Facebook page for our Chapter and encourage you to become a fan in order to keep up to date with information. We developed a “meet and greet” format for our new members which we will continue in to the new year on a quarterly basis. We have also set up some committees and would like to invite you our members to participate as we develop programs or work on initiatives for 2010-2011. The following committees are available:

I would like to thank each of our members for your continued support of your local AzNA Chapter and encourage you to get involved to help us make the Chapter more effectual for you. We welcome your input and ideas for ways we can improve. We are looking forward to another great year together!
