Message from the President

 Dear Members:

I have just come from our first meeting of the AzNA GPAC Board of Directors for the new year and want to let you all know what we are planning for this upcoming year.

First of all, I want to thank and recognize our past president (and current secretary), Sandy Thompson for her outstanding work as our president the last two years. Secondly, I want to recognize all the other Board members for their continued efforts to make this Board so successful and for developing for our members all the wonderful programs that have been provided these past two years. They have all worked very hard and have done a fantastic job!

As we were discussing the direction we wanted to take in the year 2009-2010, we thought about how we could reach out to you, our members, to make your AzNA membership more meaningful and beneficial. With that goal in mind, several wonderful suggestions were made, and we will be working on developing these in the next month or two.

  •   Increase partnerships with other nursing organizations to provide
increased awareness of event offerings as well as opportunities for
        networking
  •   Increase Community visibility—through the development of a
Speaker’s Bureau and work with volunteer organizations such as the
Area Agency on Aging, Hands On Phoenix, or others
  •  Develop committees from our membership to work on special
projects, thus encouraging others to be more involved
  •  Develop an electronic networking format for our members to be able
to communicate and network with other nurses
  •   Develop a “meet and greet” session at least quarterly for new
members to meet with Board members to learn about the
organization and for the Board to solicit input from the new members
on what they would like to see us provide for them

These are some of the exciting things your Board is working on. We of course, are open to input from our members at any time. Please feel free to contact us via phone or email if you have suggested topics for future coffee meetings or events that you would like to see, or if you have any other ideas for ways to increase our community visibility and assist in volunteer organizations.

Thank you for your continued membership in your professional organization at the local level.

Sincerely,

Beth Hunt, MSN, RN

President, AzNA GPAC
